Playthings of Mad Gods

GLOG Class: Beast of War

You were made for war - your arms end with talons, your body is covered in spikes and bone spurs. Your eyes are blood-shot. No one may mistake you for a human, even if you were one before.

Beast of War:

Adaptation: You are visibly not human. Your body adapts to the rigors of combat, granting you various strange abilities - they are called Changes, and function just like magical spells, except you use Change Dice(d6) to use them (you regain them on 1-3 and expend them on 4-6) and they are much more visceral. You may not get more CD than your maximum defined by your templates in this class.

Powered by Pain: For each 8 points of damage you suffer, regain one CD.

Devourer: For each HD of creature that you devour, regain one CD.

Just doesn't die: If you would die, roll all of your remaining CD - this is how much HP you regain.

Side Effects:

Each time you roll doubles on your CD, roll d4:

  1. Gain a random mutation for d6 turns, then save - if failed, it becomes permanent (you may choose to fail this save).
  2. Take d6 damage.
  3. For the next d6 rounds save in order to do anything due to pain.
  4. Fall into a battle trance - you will focus on attacking the nearest enemy, ignoring your own safety for d6 rounds.

Maladaptations

Each time you roll triples, you lose more of your humanity. Choose one from the following list - you lose it permanently.

If you lose all of these, you become a wild animal. Give your character sheet over to the GM and roll up a new character. It is said that you may avoid this fate by drinking the blood of an angel.

Changes

1. Piercing Scream

R: 60 ft T: any creature with hearing within range D: instantaneous Your mouth changes its shape, becoming a sonic weapon - the target must save to be able to do anything but cover their ears and scream for [dice] rounds.

2. Spines

R: 30 ft, T: anything within range, D: instantaneous [dice] Spines grow out of your body and shoot out towards your enemies, each one dealing damage corresponding to the dice you rolled for it on hit (roll attack for each of them).

3. Natural Armor

R: Self, T: Self, D: [sum] turns. Your body changes to become harder and more resilient, granting you +[dice] defense.

4. Poisoned Claws/Talons/Teeth

R: Self, T: Self, D: [dice] turns or until you attack. Your natural weapons cover themselves in a foul poison, which is injected straight into the next person you attack, dealing them an extra [sum] of damage.

5. Charge

R: Self, T: Self, D: [sum] turns. You tremendously speed up and drop to all fours, multiplying your speed by [dice]+1.

6. Tentacles!

R: 30 ft, T: Self, D: [dice] turns. Hook-covered tentacles burst out of your body, grabbing onto the nearest creatures you think of as enemies and trying to pull them toward you - they can make a save to get out in their turn, or try to attack you with a disadvantage.

7. Malleability

R: Self, T: Self, D: [sum] turns. Your body becomes like clay - you can reshape it at will, into whatever shape you desire. You revert to normality at the end of the duration.

8. Ectoplasmic Protrusions

R: Self, T: Self, D: [dice] turns Your natural weapon covers itself with fluids of colours that may not be described - you may use your natural weapons to normally attack spectral enemies.

9. Poisoned Skin

R: Self, T: Self, D: [dice] rounds. Your skin covers itself in poison, making anyone who attacks you regret it as it squirts onto the attackers. Everyone who hits a melee attack on you (or on whom you hit your attack) must save against poison, or take [sum]/2 damage. If you spent at least 3 dice on this Change, the person who fails their save is also paralyzed.

10. Killing Machine

R: Self, T: Self, D: [dice] rounds. For the next few seconds, you'll be unstoppable. All of your attacks gain advantage, and you gain an extra action as you move faster than many can see. If you spent at least 3 dice on this Change, gain another action. After this effect runs out, you suffer from a -2 penalty to all tests until you spend a turn resting.
