Playthings of Mad Gods

GLOG Class: Speed Fiend

For Buckets of Blood by the magnificent Chloe
Power, money, even happiness. They are all combined into one single beautiful substance, a white powder. I am of course talking about cocaine. What other drug can make you more charismatic, make your thinking faster and just give you this plain joy. Most people just don't realize the power it holds. So go ahead - snort a single line and feel it change your life.

Speed Fiend:

A Friend In Need: You've hit some rough times. You might have lost a few friends, perhaps even a company. Maybe you have been evicted, maybe even your husband/wife has left you. Or maybe you've never had any. Doesn't matter - what matters is that you have found a new friend who will gladly give you all the blow you'll ever need. In return they just want some inconsequential things, like a friend's name, or a day from their life. Even if it should be nothing, you always feel a substantial loss when your Special Friend gets what they ask for. These horrible things that happen to them after they give these things up in exchange for the joy you give them are just coincidences, right? For each "friend" you coax to open themselves up to the intrusion of the Others you gain 5 g of cocaine. After taking this stuff, the purest there is, nothing else will satisfy you now.

Your Special Friend does not use any names with you or the people you get to agree to their deals. In fact, they usually say nothing to them, letting you do the talking. Then they give you the coke, in an unmarked velvet envelope. The Friend strongly smells of flowers and wears designer clothing, and yet seems not to be noticed by those whom they want not to notice them. You can't even describe their face, or the horns on their head.

Crystalized Power: There's more to the stuff your Friend gives you than meets the eye. It's probably the purity, but when you take it the world around you seems to remain a bit altered even after the high wears off. For each 2 lines of coke you snort, gain one Powder Dice. Powder Dice are like magic dice, except they are always exhausted when rolled. You roll 2d4 for the starting Side Effects (described at the bottom of the post).

After the high wears off, gain 3 fatigue for each doubles. For each triples, take one of the following:

Everyone Wants You: There's a word on the street that you've got the best stuff. By spending a day in bars, pubs and other, even less respectable establishments you may attract 1d4 Coke-heads. They are loyal as long as they are provided with a stready stream of devil's dandruff (you're pretty sure that your Friend is not the devil, and that it is not his dandruff) - they'll turn on you if you stop giving them at least 0.5 g per day. They have the following job (or a job in the stated sector) with all of its influence, skills and trappings (roll 1d10): 1. Prostitute, 2. Gangster (low-level), 3. Office-worker, 4. Official, 5. Law-enforcement, 6. Entertainer (mildly-known), 7. Doctor, 8. Construction (skilled), 9. Finance, 10. Non-profit.

New Friends: Your Special Friend meets you again, and tells you to get your best suit. They teach you a special, secret knock then, telling you to make it only if you are sure that one one can see you. If you do it it, the door opens, leading to THE CLUB. In there, they introduce you to other members of the Beautiful Folk, who follow the same rules as they do. They also love to make other deals, bets and schemes, but will always trick you in some way, and they expect the same of you.

Your body will not be found if anyone sees you doing this secret knock.

Burning Star: You are like a Burning Star for all who ever took even a single whiff of your coke. They see you in their dreams, beckoning them to get more. When in your vicinity, they can rarely bring themselves to say no. (Their reactions towards you have a +4 bonus).

Side Effects

  1. Glamour Gain [dice] of the following effects for an hour:
  1. Freedom When you're pumped up, nothing can hold you in place. You can break [sum] things that hold you in place (like zip-ties, doors or hands) as long as they are not made out of pure iron.
  2. Strength You are a strong person, even if you don't always notice it. Sometimes, you just need to release it. In a single act of strength, you can deal an additional [sum]+[dice] damage to a target you hit with a melee strike, or have the ability to lift/throw an object that weights 40+[sum]*5 kg.
  3. Speed Fun has control over time - it speeds up when you're having it. You can take this time, and use it - for [dice] rounds take an extra action.
  4. Euphoria You're not the only one enjoying yourself - others also have fun around you. You may send up to [sum] HD of creatures into a state of bliss - they will not act for 10 minutes, unless struck or otherwise taken out of their stupor.
  5. Creativity C Vitamin makes your brain race, brimming with ideas. Now, you may put them outside - you can create an illusion with [sum] m^3 of volume - it will last for [dice] minutes, and may be noticed as such with a save.
  6. Love The drug inside you tells you "they all love you". And they will do so, if you just ask it for help. For [sum] hours, the target loves you - the precise nature of this love depends on your previous relationship. It may be carnal love, platonic love, or even loyalty. In order to do anything that would hurt you they must save. After this effect ends they will feel violated. They will be right.
  7. Wealth Yeah, that's what everyone thinks coke really is. Wealth. Everything else is just what they'll do with it. Money seems to accumulate now, from strange cheques found in your drawer, wallets found on the ground, or overseas transfers. Recieve [sum]*500 dollars. This is not clean money.
  8. Power And yet, you are not satisfied for long. You want more. So go for it, take it. YOU LIVE IN WORLDS BEYOND THEIR UNDERSTANDING, LIGHTNING SHOOTING OUT OF YOUR FINGERTIPS! You may become a walking god of destruction - deal [sum] damage to everyone (and everything) you can see, as they are torn by powers beyond anyone's comprehension. Afterwards, collapse into a coma (save each day to wake up).
  9. Change But all the power you get can not actually change this world. For all you've got, these powers are just tricks and illusions. This one is the real deal. You can change [dice] facts about the past. Everything will change to accomodate it. This is what happened. [dice] Paradox Angels (10 HD, immune to all your tricks, each use of this ability flaring up for them like a beacon) will hunt you now. They will be here in 1d6 hours. Prepare.

Designer notes

This class is about power and addiction. It is never enough, and it will destroy you. But until then, you'll burn bright. It's quite easy to have more PD than you'll ever need. But it's a trap - you will ruin your body and soul. Alternatively, you may play like a dealer, getting more and more "friends" whom you will sell out to your "Friends" for more dope. In either case, while pretending to be the best that there ever was, what you really are is a common knave.
