Avoiding Link Rot: Making My Old Posts Into PDF Compendiums
Introduction
I do not want my works to be forgotten while I am still alive. Later I don't care. But I feel a certain terror when I look for a decade year old blogs and can not even find them on the G_d d___ed Internet Archive. I do not want for the writings of others to be forgotten, when it could come of use. Thus, I have decided to do two things:
First - Writing This Post, Containing A Request
Please, for the love of G_d, archive your blogs, as well as the blogs that are no longer active. It means that if someone wants to reference them in the future, even if the hosting goes down, the Internet Archive will still hold it. It also means that in case of Link Rot someone can change the links to go from the original site, to the internet archive. It costs you nothing but ~a minute, and with setting it to "save outlinks" you can save everything on the page of your blog. Internet Archive, Saving a Webpage. Go ahead, and do something for those who will come afterwards.
Second - Archiving My Works In The Form of PDF Compendiums, Available Free Of Charge
Even so, The Internet Archive may fall, in what will be remembered like one of the many burnings of The Library of Alexandria. Because of that, I have decided to archive my blog posts in another way - PDFs, scattered throughout various sites, as well as your drives. Thus, if BearBlog shuts down (hopefully never, G_d be willing), they will remain. Here are the links to ones made now, I will make more in the future, not in this post but probably in other posts:
